This year, WNY Comic Arts is pleased to be able to offer a minicomic publishing mini-grant. Four artists from the WNY region were selected to produce a minicomic of up to 16 pages which would be riso-printed at no cost to them by Rathaus Press in an edition of 100.

Lauren Mary Barnett is a painter and Ignatz-nominated cartoonist. Her work has been featured in The New Yorker, the Washington Post, and Harper’s Bazaar Korea, among other publications. In 2020 she displayed her paper mâché project “In Case of Emergency” at Desert Island comics in Brooklyn, NY. She was a 2022 resident at the St. Nell’s Humor Writing Residency.

"#Woke Up Like This"
Sally Peck is a professional graphic designer and illustrator from Upstate, NY. Her art and comics are inspired by the cartoons she grew up with in the 90s, and can be best described as a "gross-out comics for the girls, gays and theys."
This project is made possible with funds from the Aid to Localities Program through the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts and the New York State Senate.
